Nigeria,a Place of Peace

A place of peace
Sunny place and rainy place
A place of harmony and peace
Despite the varieties of tongues.
The home of surplus
With atmosphere of geniality
Wide oceans,big lagoons
Pungent smell from mighty forests
Coolest breeze from heavy mountains
A place of peace
A country of puissance
A gem unmatched by others
Pulchritude of Africa
Our progress,as fast as running punkah.
Now the coast is clear
No more hoodoo as leader
No more jinx as driver
Protem our prosaic side of life-YES
But the despisers are blind to see this
I'm here to puncture their confidence
This is not a propitiation
Nor exaggeration...
The land of peace
Yes,this is a place of peace
Away I've been
But I easily felt homesick for Nigeria
Many are purgatory
Turning visitors to slaves
But you are a place of peace
Treating all equally with peace
A place systematically turning to haven
With a feeling of joie de vivre
Grokked by raven
Geddit or doubting a place of peace?

The article, a very popular one, had a mere 431 total views during the seven months of that year but would subsequently attract 1,640 views (2014); 2,868 views (2015); 2,822 views (2016) and in 2017 to date, there have been 1,872 views – a grand total of 9,633 views. There have been questions about “Yoruba name for igun”; “… hoopo bird called in Yoruba”; “… aluko and agbe birds in Yoruba culture”; “the English name of eye akalamagbo”; “What is the English of eye kowe”, and many others. At the end of the list, there are a couple of references, and more can be found through Google. PLEASE NOTE: Spellings often dif...

What does your surname says about you?

There Are 7 Types of English Surnames — Which One Is Yours? [Photo credit: Shutterstock] Many of us have surnames passed down to us from ancestors in England . Last names weren’t widely used until after the Norman conquest in 1066, but as the country’s population grew, people found it necessary to be more specific when they were talking about somebody else. Thus arose descriptions like Thomas the Baker, Norman son of Richard, Henry the Whitehead, Elizabeth of the Field, and Joan of York that, ultimately, led to many of our current surnames. There are perhaps 45,000 different English surnames , but most had their origins as one of these seven types. Occupational Occupational names identified people based on their job or position in society. Calling a man “Thomas Carpenter” indicated that he worked with wood for a living, while someone named Knight bore a sword. Other occupational names include Archer, Baker, Brewer, Butcher, Carter, Clark, Cooper, Cook, ...
